What is orforglipron (Foundayo)?

Orforglipron, sold under the brand name Foundayo by Eli Lilly, is a once-daily oral GLP-1 medication for weight management. The FDA approved it on April 1, 2026. Its headline feature is convenience: it is a pill with no food, water, or timing restrictions, unlike the older oral semaglutide tablet that has strict fasting rules. One technical point matters for accuracy: orforglipron is a small molecule, not a peptide. That is what lets it work as a simple daily pill and be manufactured at large scale.

How does it work?

Like other GLP-1 medications, orforglipron activates the GLP-1 receptor, which reduces appetite and slows stomach emptying, helping people eat less and feel full sooner. The difference is the delivery: a small-molecule pill taken once a day rather than a weekly injection or a fasting-dependent tablet.

What did the trials show?

In the ATTAIN-1 program (about 3,127 adults without diabetes), orforglipron produced dose-dependent average weight loss of roughly 11 to 12% at 72 weeks. In Eli Lilly's April 2026 communications, the company described "an average of 27 pounds at the highest dose." Maintenance evidence comes from ATTAIN-MAINTAIN (Aronne LJ et al., Nature Medicine, 2026; PMID 42120723), which found orforglipron maintained roughly 74.7% to 79.3% of prior body-weight reduction at 52 weeks in people who switched from an injectable like tirzepatide or semaglutide. As with any medication, individual results vary.

Is Foundayo FDA-approved, and what does it cost?

Yes. Foundayo is FDA-approved and on the U.S. market. Per Lilly's April 1, 2026 release, it is available through LillyDirect with free home delivery, starting at $25 per month with commercial insurance coverage and $149 per month for self-pay at the lowest dose, with higher doses up to about $399 per month, and Medicare Part D as low as $50 per month beginning July 1, 2026. Prices change, so confirm current pricing with the manufacturer before relying on any figure.

How is Foundayo different from compounded semaglutide?

Foundayo is a brand-name, FDA-approved pill made by Eli Lilly. Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide are prepared per prescription by licensed U.S. pharmacies and are not FDA-approved or brand-identical. They are different products with different regulatory status. New Hope Weight Loss does not dispense Foundayo and cannot compound a copy of an approved drug. What we provide is physician-supervised compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, plus honest guidance if a branded oral option turns out to be the better fit for you.

Frequently asked questions

Is orforglipron (Foundayo) FDA-approved?

Yes. The FDA approved orforglipron, branded Foundayo, on April 1, 2026. It is the first once-daily small-molecule oral GLP-1 and is available through LillyDirect. It is not a peptide, which is part of why it can be taken as a simple daily pill without food or timing rules.

How much weight did people lose on orforglipron?

In the ATTAIN-1 program of adults without diabetes, orforglipron produced dose-dependent average loss of about 11 to 12% at 72 weeks, and Lilly described about 27 pounds at the highest dose. ATTAIN-MAINTAIN (PMID 42120723) found it maintained roughly 75 to 79% of earlier weight loss at 52 weeks after switching from an injectable. Individual results vary.

Can New Hope Weight Loss prescribe Foundayo?

We do not dispense Foundayo, and no clinic can compound a copy of an FDA-approved drug. What we offer is physician-supervised compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, with honest guidance about all of your options. If a branded oral medication is the better fit, your physician will tell you.

Is the Foundayo pill better than a weekly injection?

Neither is universally 'better.' A daily pill is more convenient for some people; a weekly injection suits others. Trial average weight loss for orforglipron (about 11 to 12%) was generally lower than the highest injectable figures, but convenience, tolerability, cost, and your medical history all matter. A physician can help you choose.

What is the difference between Foundayo and compounded semaglutide?

Foundayo is a brand-name, FDA-approved pill. Compounded semaglutide is prepared per prescription by a licensed U.S. pharmacy and is not FDA-approved or brand-identical. They are different products with different regulatory status, which an honest clinic will explain rather than blur.
